Let's take a look at what "children should be taught" in the article. It wouldn't let me comment for some reason, so I decided to create my own blog!

-That mutations are usually harmful to survival and often don’t help with scoring, either (reproduction to pass along the genes)

^ This is true. And it's being taught. Look up frame shift mutations, missense mutations, nonsense mutations [the latter cause cystic fibrosis, duchene muscular dystrophy, etc.] Many harmful mutations are corrected by the body - so are many "useful" mutation. The body DNA repair mechanisms like DNA Polymerase I's 3'-5' exonuclease ability doesn't care if the mutation is potentially beneficial or not. Things like trisomy (3 chromosomes instead of 2 in certain areas) cause Down's Syndrome. Others simply cause spontaneous miscarriage, which is how many hurtful mutations get discarded.


-That according to prevailing evolutionary theory and biological knowledge, mutations happen randomly, though may be made more frequent by certain environmental factors but probably not the factor to which the organism must adapt to survive

^ See my previous comments. Mutations do happen randomly, even frequently, but are often corrected. DNA Polymerase I, II, III; DNA Ligase, and regulatory enzymes ensure that the proper nucleotides are re-inserted through direct repair,

-That genetic mutations may or may not result in actual physical differences, and that mutations may be “corrected” or recessed in reproduction, so that offspring may not “benefit” from them

^ Again, see my previous 2 comments.

-That we have no known examples – only theorized examples - where time + matter-energy = life, but we have plenty of examples where information + matter-energy = life.

^ I honestly have no idea what you're talking about here, sorry. But I'd suggest you go to "http://notjustatheory.com/" to figure out how to use the word "theory" and "theorized" in the context of evolution. To work with your logic here, we also have no examples of God's Creation; only theory and "books" written by mortal men.

-That we have no examples of living organisms coming from nonliving materials through natural processes, though we have plenty of examples of a previously living organism irreversibly becoming nonliving materials

^ Again, in the chapter of Origin of Life in a typical Biology textbook, theories and hypotheses are proposed (Note: a theory is not the same thing as a hypothesis) that fit current knowledge. Any real scientist knows there is much we do not know in a lot of fields of study. The purpose of school biology classes is to stimulate interest via the knowledge and theory we do have. These children, if inspired [i don't know why they would be, honestly] to figure out the origin of life or test the String theory, then they will take college courses in those areas.

-That scientists engage in intelligent design when they do genetic engineering and many people engage in artificial - not natural - selection with breeding

^ Slightly erroneous, but I get your point. Genetic engineering, by and large, is genetic recombination. A lot of times, we put things together, and pray [yes, a lot of us believe in God, too] that the proper genes are transformed via plasmids into the target organism's cells.

-The odds that all of the factors about our universe, galaxy, solar system, and planet would all allow for intelligent life to exist here

^ What odds? Are you going to use Scientific tools to calculate your odds? Doesn't make sense. Figure out a respectable way to calculate these "odds" using non-scientific methods and then I'll take another look. So much of science is about mechanisms, not much else. I mean MOST scientists want to often know "what" and "how" and "why" more than WHO created it or how it all got started.

^ Honestly, I have NO idea whatsoever what that means. That is utterly incoherent.
